Workplace coaching

Coaching is a process that enables learning and development for the client. Progress is expected from this learning. Coaching has some similarities with consulting. In consulting clients work to reach identifiable short term goals. The client follows advice from the consultant. Coaching is more consistent on a longer term basis. A coach stays with the client to ensure that the client has help when trying out new skills, experience changes, and setting new goals. The coach helps the client to find his own answers to his own questions related to his goal.

Workplace coaching

Workplace coaching can be used in different situations:

  • when an individual employee or a small number of employees have a skill or competence based improvement need

  • the individual employee need additional guidance on a work based competence, which is more than what his supervisor can provide

  • the employee require a different perspective from the 'business as usual' perspective

  • upgrade skills not available in the company
